Spray Snif perfume by Steph Shep and smell even better the next day

E! : You said you’ve been wearing this for a year. Has it become a signature fragrance for you?

“Oh, sure. Sure. It’s so funny. I kind of told my life story through perfume. Whether it’s the end of one chapter, the start of another, I think that also correlates to the relationships I’m in. Once I break up with someone, I choose a new perfume, some women cut their hair, and I just change my perfume.

It’s really cool to have this journey of self-reflection thinking back to past scents and the kind of vibe I was in and now this one in this new stage of my life. To have this new scent that I created that is so deeply personal and special to me, it will be my scent for the rest of my life.”

E! : Does this fragrance evoke any special memories for you?

“I think the inspiration for it was that chapter of my life where I was just having the best time. It was my mid-twenties. I was carefree. I didn’t have the adult responsibilities that I I didn’t have the weight of the world on my shoulders like we all feel.

I was just mobbing through Paris with my friends, Paris Fashion Week. We’re going out. This was before social media. We were just having a good time and enjoying the experience of a new adventure together.

I really wanted to encapsulate that and the smells and feelings of that time and mix them together and create this new scent. I think we did just that.

Yeah, I really think I’m going to categorize this once in my life with this scent. It will be interesting to see how that makes me feel in 10 years.”

E! : I heard you say carefree. Are there any other feelings that this scent evokes for you?

“Yeah, it definitely takes me to that carefree place where I was out of my head and just felt empowered, but at the same time with those earthy notes, it makes me feel very grounded and powerful. It’s a very sophisticated fragrance.”

E! : I love having something, be it a perfume or a beauty product, that allows me to ground myself and feel more confident.

“Totally, it’s like a solace. Even in your beauty routine, I find it’s like the icing on the cake at the end of everything I do, from skincare to hair to cosmetics. nails. Before I go out I just like to make sure I have perfume because it looks like a representation of the perfume I use to show the world who I am. I like that this is my perfume because he is so special and so unique.

It is so good. We did a good job, I must say.”

E! : I know it’s a tough question, but can you sum up the smell in one word?

“I would say sophisticated. That’s what I love about this particular scent. It has such a full body. It really takes you on this journey. You really hit all the different notes. Sometimes I feel like I don’t really notice these intricacies in a perfume, but this one really takes you on a journey.

My favorite part is the next day when you can smell it on your clothes. You know when you smell clothes and they smell like someone and you know who it is? It evokes so many feelings and that’s what I love. It moves. It’s fluid. It tells a story throughout the time you wear it.”

E! : I love putting on a sweater that I haven’t worn in a while and still smells a bit of the perfume I was wearing.

“That’s my favorite part. Every time I say it, I’m like, do I look so scary? I smell my man’s shirts because they smell like him. It’s so powerful. J love this part for sure.”

E! : Has one of your friends tried this perfume? What do they think?

“They did. In fact, I really worked on it with the Snif team and I didn’t outsource any reviews. No one had smelled the scent before it came out, so everyone was getting in real time.

I was nervous because my friends are pretty harsh reviewers, but I just got a text last night from one of my best friends, and he was like expecting, this perfume is actually the best perfume I’ve had never felt. I was like, thank you, because it’s annoying to release something in the world. Obviously, you hope people like it, but if you like it, that’s enough. Getting that stamp of approval from people you hold in very high regard is even better. They all love him. My girlfriends love it. I am really very happy with this project. It really is a labor of love.”

E! : We talked about the signature scents, were they like, oh, we get it, when they smelled that?

“Totally. We never really talked about what we’re wearing. And they were like it smells like you. It smells like what you would do. I’m just thrilled.”

E! : What trends are you currently observing in terms of perfume? Did you tap into any of these trends when creating this fragrance?

“One of the biggest trends we’re seeing is this gender fluidity of fragrances and scent notes that were perhaps traditionally associated with a specific gender. You know, like perfume for women and cologne for men, it’s such an outdated concept. I’ve always been drawn to traditional cologne scents. It’s kind of where I’ve always lived and shopped. I just think people want to find scents they like instead of being told what kinds of scents they should wear based on their gender identity. It’s such an outdated concept. To get to do this collab with Snif and completely eliminate gender from the conversation is amazing and such a forward-thinking way to approach any type of product. I love that Suganami is designed to be worn and loved by everyone and anyone.”

E! : One of my favorite flavors combines apple with tobacco.

“Oh my love. And it’s not something that you would typically be marketed to, and I just think that’s so silly. These marketing teams telling us we have to subscribe to a certain type of fragrance just to because of our gender, it’s very outdated. I’m leaning towards men’s clothing. We like what we like and I don’t think it should be limited to gender identity.
